Tuesday was a wonderful day, if all just because of one incident. What I didn't tell you on Monday's post was that I saw Blue in the study room again. I was inside already reading a paper, and then she walked in. I looked up, saw her, she smiled, I froze and then quickly looked down. Man did I feel bad. Musta been the 10th time I didn't return the smile. Anyway. Tuesday. Bunch of the guys decided to go Jurong Point to catch the 2.25pm Blades of Glory show. So I took the LRT at like 1.45 to Zhi Wei's stop. And then took an LRT back in the direction I came on cause it was the faster route. The door opened, and in walked blue! This time I made sure I smiled first. Its not so much that fact that the girl's pretty and all. It was more about getting past the whole shyness barrier. Well I gave a smile and got one in return. It really did feel good. And when she left the LRT, I gave a little wave and she gave one back :D
Ok that sounded really juvenile. Grow up. I know. But it is a big deal for me to smile at people I don't know. Hence the reason why some people say I do look cold at times. Well Blades of Glory was an absolute hoot. I wanted senseless slapstick humor and that's what I got. In spades.
Well Thursday was a break from the boredom that I've been experiencing. Went to JB, early in the morning. There was an interesting incident, but ask me on MSN instead, as I fear that the Malaysian goverment has this post monitored! *shiftily looks around* Went there mainly to send the car for servicing. Oh yeah the family watched Shrek the 3rd at a cinema there too. It was....ok la. The movie I mean. I slept for 10 mins or so, probably because I was just damn tired from all the walking around. I woke up when I heard Damien Rice's 9 crimes. Pissed really. To have it used in a comedy. An animated one at that. And of course there's the thing that now the bazzillion peeps who watch the show are probably gonna know about the song. Its selfish I know, but Damien Rice is like one of my 'secret-personal-bands' that 'belongs' to me. Sure everyone knows his 'Blower's Daughter' but how many people actually listened to the rest of his CD? Argh now the whole world knows him. Great. Another personal band gone global.
I think I'm starting to hate the Shrek franchise. The previous movie did the same thing to me. They used the Counting Crows for their song 'Accidently in Love'. By far the worst song Counting Crows ever came up with. Now everyone only knows Accidently in Love. What about their classics like Round Here or Colorblind!?! Argh!! Hate the feeling when people dismiss my favourite bands based on ONE commercialised single that was featured in a movie.
Btw look what I found on Youtube! :
Her voice is amazing, and the song's pretty good. Haha.
~Till the next post.
Music Trivia: I normally prefer the original versions of songs over covers, but there are two exceptions. One's Ryan Adam's version of Wonderwall, and the other's Eva Cassidy's cover of Fields of Gold. I can't think of enough superlatives to describe her version. Her voice, the subtle, gentle guitar.. its all just works. RIP Eva, we'll miss you.

It's really been meh round here.
So the exams are over. Well. They've been over for a week. It's like after the last paper, you just don't know what to do with you're new found free time. Ya know? I've been playing this game for the past week, and its just pure mindless distraction. Meh.
Caught Pirates 3, it was meh as well.
Everything's been pretty meh. Not what I expected. The only thing going according to plan is gym. No gatherings, no outings, no barbeques, no mahjong(Hmm I still don't know how to play.) Bo haw ring.
The BFF left on a jet plane to the land of the rising sun for a week.
:( Wish I was there, I'm sure. Although...Prolly wouldn't survive 2 days with my abrasive anti-sushi antics. They'd probably be insulted by the wackysackysushi thing, and draw out their samurai swords and lay down some justice. The Bushido code and all. Meh I'd probably deserve it. You insult our sushi and you insult our language. I shall let your head meet the earth. Rawwwwrrr. Ah it'd be a glorious death.
Anyhoooo, you can obviously see that I'm really bored. So. What are YOU doing?

Blue. (The Science of Smiling)
Apparently you really can learn something from anywhere. Like even in a study room. And I'm not talking about study. ;)
So what happened was, I was in the study room studying with Jie Chao. We were using seperate tables cause I didn't want to disturb Chao's beauty sleep (hehheh). Then the door opens, and in comes this girl that I keep bumping into recently. She always wears this blue shirt, and that's why I call her Blue. And she's really umm. How do I say it without sounding like a perv. Cute? Hahah. I said it.
So anyway I first saw her last Sunday and since then, practically everytime I go down to the study room to study, I'll bump into her. Well the door opening and closing shut woke Chao up and I turned and saw her.
Well there wasn't any tables left for her to use. There are only 2 study tables in the room. So she had to sit at the couch and use the 'shorter' table there. Well I decided to stand up and let the lady use the table. I pack my notes and whatnot up, and leave the table and meekly go back to Chao's table.
Now here's the part that's really eating at me. I shoulda offered the seat to her. Instead I just walked to the other table and sat down. Well she got the hint and she moved to the table. Chao told her that she could use that table, and that was that. Oh and he got a really nice smile from her too. ARGHHHHHHH. Later during our tea break, he was freaking scolding me for not saying anything to her and stuff. And that I was the one who 'offered' the seat and table, but he was the one who got the smile. Frickonastick!
So I told myself, that man, I shan't let that happen again. Shan't leave myself in a situation where I really want to kick myself again. NEVER!
Few hours later she started packing her stuff to leave the room. As she was leaving, she turned back and smiled at Chao (who was looking at her leave, and thus when she turned back to smile he was like caught redhanded. And when she smiled, I think I saw him sorta die for a moment). By that time I was sitting on the couch (yeah I move around alot), which is on the way to the door. When I saw Chao's reaction I sorta chuckled silently. Then she turned to look at me, and sorta caught me looking at her, but shiat man, I looked down and pretended to be studying. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! ARGGHHH. Moment she left I started kicking myself really hard. Again. I denied myself the chance to say 'Bye' or smile or whatever! Man it felt really bad afterwords.
Ok here's the thing. I have this problem. I'm totally shy when it comes to girls that I may be attracted to but who I don't know personally. Once I'm familiar with the person and all, it's like there's no problem, can totally communicate and stuff (though I get tongue tied quite a bit still).
But what's wrong with just smiling or anything? In the end I think it looked more like I was unfriendly or acting 'dao' in retrospect. Which isn't the case at all. I was just too shy to look directly AT her.
That's when I started barraging Jie Chao with all my scientific questions about how does he smile so easily (I don't smile by nature. I just don't.) Like if I see her entering the place again, I know I should like smile in acknowledgement since we keep seeing each other. But how do you do it? Smile and wait for her to see me, or wait for her to see me first then smile. Do I add a little wave? Half smile? Full Smile? Full Smile with teeth? Sideway grin? So many questions. Poor Chao he had to put up with my incessant whining and needling. He got TWO smiles. All I was a half smile (She was turning back after smiling at Chao) which I was too afraid to even see fully. But seriously her smile is really... enchanting. Like it could make your whole dreary day seem brighter.
Ok I shall go back and meditate upon what I've learnt. I need to learn to smile.
Music Trivia: I've added "Groovy kind of love" by Phil Collins in my music list. Listen to it! I remember this song as part of this super old CD I got when I was like 6 years old because it had the Top Gun song "take my breathe away" in it (I think the title of the cd was Love Songs from the Movies"). And the reason I added this was because me and chao were discussing what possible songs I could put on which had the word Blue in it that I could use. He was thinking of songs sung by Blue. I was thinking of this song straight away! Haha enjoy. It's totally sappy.
PS: Any responses please put as a reply rather than on the shoutbox. I don't wanna lose the comments. whahah.

It's been a long time coming.
Well whaddaya know. Singnet's been screwing with me, and 238 others. It's been a long week anyways of unexciting occurances. 4 Papers down, one last one to go. Today was just depressing. Prognosis isn't too good. Had an interesting and uber long dinner though at subway. That part was fun. Missed the really hilarious 9pm chinese show though, but ah well shiat happens. But as I'm writing this, i'm quivering in anticipation of my next d&d session! Geeky shit, I know but who cares, its fun. Stress reliever and some good-ol'-get-together-fun. Shall post some pictures of it tomorrow.
Music Trivia: Added Galapagos by The Smashing Pumpkins onto my playlist. I know most people can't stand Billy Corgan's voice but I always did find it rather soothing. I grew up listening to their music. Ahhhhhhhhh the nostalgia. This song totally reminds me of my secondary school years. This song I think is one of their lesser known songs, from their Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness CD. I'd put the CD on play and just lie in my bed and stare outside with this song on repeat. I love the whole gentleness of this song, and I love waiting for the crescendo, where Billy tells the girl in the song that he'll still be there. Man freaking emo! lol.

It should've been me.
So I just finished watching the latest Scrubs episode. That dude who's been dating Elliot finally proposed to her. And J.D was just standing there looking forlorn. "It should've been me," he said. I think its something we all can relate to at one time or another. To imagine what it'd be like to be with someone that you're not with.
This whole J.D/Elliot thing has been on and off "more times than Ross and Rachel", like Carla said. Still, it was rather sad. =(
I think about it all the time. What if. Heh.

I'm sure a billion blogs would be talking about...
...how they felt about the new spiderman movie. All I'm gonna say is, great action, full of plot holes, irritating sense of 'convenient' occurances. Was fun though.
Today started average enough. Woke up late, skipped breakfast, got on the bus, spotted this same eye candy i've seen a few times, jep. Normal. ;) Class was okay, a tad slow, and too long, but it did reinforce the basic econs principles...blabla boring myself already.
Highlights:
- Being told salad was my only option for lunch. (I knew it would come sooner or later. Well there was mushroom pasta in the end. I'm vegetarian. Go ahead. Laugh. I did.)
- Singing the famous Phantom Of The Opera tune with Jie Chao and Jamesy outside some construction site behind PS. CHRISTINE!!!!!! (hehheh. Inside joke. Mel looked at us like we crazy.)
- Spiderman 3
- The study session at Mac. Jessica's nuts I tell ya. Lol.
Main stuff I'm gonna be talking about today is....wait for it.... infatuations. Been one of my buzzwords the past week. I'm sure most people would have experienced it before. I'm not talking about food infatuations btw ;) It can be a rather intoxicating experience, to be infatuated with someone. To think of the person constantly, and yet feel powerless to stop it from continuing. Especially if you know its impossible between the two of you for whatever reasons.
A few days back I chanced about this beautiful video by Damien Rice feat. Lisa Hannigan, called Rootless Tree. It was taken from their Abbey Road appearance. It conveys, uncannily enough, exactly what I'm feeling right now.
That's one of the most purest Fuck Yous I've ever heard. Damien and Lisa together manage to convey the utter love/hate/helplessness in those 2 words. Enjoy and tell me what you think about the song.
In a relating news, Lisa Hannigan won't be performing with Damien Rice any longer. Rumors are he kicked her out of the band. As quite a few people around me know, I'm totally smitten by her. Her voice, her gentle demure person (and of course nose and eyebrows! ;) ) has totally got me daydreaming about finding a girl like that for the past few years. Heh. It's impossible to talk about Damien Rice without fawning over her. While Damien Rice may have written the lyrics and music, Lisa was just as important, giving him a female protagonist to joust with lyrically. Damien Rice was really more like a duo than just Damien himself. And all this while, she has been modest about it all, never attempting to steal Damien's thunder, playing the quiet sidekick. This is definately sad news for me, and I hope they patch things up (professionally of course. I have this theory about the two of them actually being an item. I guess all the Damien Rice fans sorta kinda hoped that they were an item as well. It's too bad she got married recently to some lucky guy. Maybe Rootless Tree was meant for her?)
Well I did a little sleuthing around, Lisa's been nurturing a solo career (ABOUT DAMN TIME!)
Here's a 17min clip of her from Other Voices, an Irish programme. Requires Real player.
Signing out, Dhruv 'The Phantom' Ang. Whahaha.
